A: Yes. We only accept applications from organizations registered with the IRS under the 501c3 regulations.

Does my organization need to be a 501c3 non-profit organization in order to apply for a grant from the Discover A Star Foundation?
A: Yes. We only accept applications from organizations registered with the IRS under the 501c3 regulations. Also, your organization must fall within our focus areas of children’s health and well being and homeless intervention.

Do I need my organization’s EIN (tax I.D. number) to apply for a grant?
A: Yes. We can only accept applications from organizations with a registered nonprofit number with the IRS’ database. Your tax I.D. number will be verified.

May I submit an application for a grant via mail or fax?
A: No. We only accept applications online via our website.

If I did not receive a grant previously, may I apply again?
A: Yes. However, please note that the Discover A Star Foundation is looking for unique and innovative programs that cater to children’s health and well being and homeless intervention, and are within the guidelines set forth by the Foundation.

I do not pass the eligibility to apply for a grant, why?
A: Please make sure your organization is in Los Angeles County, California and your organization’s focus serves children’s health and well being and homeless intervention.

If I am a church or school, may I apply for a grant?
A: No. Per our guidelines, we do not fund individuals, schools, churches, and fraternal or social clubs.
Q:
I am looking for money for an event, may I apply?
A: No. We do not fund events (e.g. dinners, tournaments, etc.).
